Have you ever heard the saying “Everyone has a twin somewhere in the world”? Many of us never get to actually see that twin, but we often hear people say to us “You look just like someone I know.” Well some of the celebrities in this list have gotten lucky enough to see their doppelgangers in the flesh! Though I can admit, not everyone on this list can pass for twins, many of them can at least pass for siblings. Check out Black Thespian’s list of 10 Actors Separated At Birth (In no particular order).
You know Dulé Hill as Gus from the fun dramedy “Psych” where he plays the best bud of Pseudo Psychic Detective Sean Spencer (James Roday). Fun fact: Sean actually made a joke in one episode where he called Gus “Deon Richmond” aka Bud from “The Cosby Show”. So we’re not the only ones who see the uncanny resemblance.
9. Jackée Harry and Kym Whitley
Anyone who hasn’t followed the career of Jackée Harry aka Sandra Clark from the hit sitcom “227″ or the funloving Lisa Landry, mother of “Tia Landry” on “Sister Sister” could easily get her mixed up with comedian Kym Whitley. Fun fact: In the early years of 227, Kym Whitley was actually hired to be Jackée’s stand-in. Now that’s great casting!
8. Tia/Tamera Mowry and Essence Atkins
Speaking of the “Sister Sister” twins, someone had better call Mama Mowry and tell her she may have had triplets instead of twins! Essence Atkins (best known to ME as Dee Dee Thorne, the annoying yet endearing little sister on UPN’s now defunct sitcom “Half & Half”) holds a striking resemblance to the Mowry twins. I found it funny that she played the older sister of Tahj Mowry (the real life little bro to Tia and Tamera) on the 90s sitcom “Smart Guy”. Those casting directors had a little inside joke going I see.
7. Taraji P. Henson and Tamala Jones
I, as well as a lot of people I know have been guilty of mixing these two actresses up a few times. What has made it difficult to tell the two apart is not only the fact that they look alike but they often tend to play similar roles. We can now distinguish Taraji P. Henson a bit more these days since she has become a break out star with her Oscar nomination for her role in “The Curious Case Of Benjamin Buttons.”
6. Flex Alexander and Corey Reynolds
I don’t know how many times “The Closer” actor Corey Reynolds has flashed across my screen and someone has yelled out “hey is that Flex!?”. No! But it sure does look like him at first glance! If you ask me, Flex Alexander (“Snakes on a Plane”, “One on One”) may have a long lost brother!
5. Yvette Nicole Brown and Sherri Shepherd
Another duo that people have been guilty of mixing up at times are the gorgeous full figured babes Yvette Nicole Brown and Sherri Shepherd. Donning similar curly do’s its easy to mistake the two if you’re not used to seeing them all the time. Before Sherri snagged a seat on “The View” and Yvette snatched up the role as Shirley on NBC’s “Community”, they could often be seen playing similar, hilarious guest roles on several well known sitcoms. You name the sitcom I can probably show you a clip where one of these young ladies showed up on it. These two are actually good friends in real life. I wonder how many times people tell Yvette they love her on “The View” while Sherri looks on.
4. Zoe Saldana and Thandie Newton
If you point at a photo of Thandie Newton and ask most people which movies the actress has starred in, they’ll probably tell you “Avatar” or “Star Trek” where they would quickly get THE BUZZER [ehhhhhhhnnnt]! Those movies actually starred Zoe Saldana, but its easy to understand why one of them would get mistaken for the other. With similar faces and a similar body frame I think its safe to say that these two could pass for sisters.
3. Vanessa Williams and Michael Michelle
If there ever was such a thing as a doppelganger (Actress/Singer/Former Miss America) Vanessa Williams would be staring at hers if she ever met actress Michael Michele. These two beauties bear a striking resemblance to one another including similar hair and eye colors! I think we need to get some DNA tests underway!
2. Paula Patton and Joy Bryant
I have actually never mixed these two up, but while doing my research for this post, I came across photos of the two of them and I couldn’t help but notice that they do favor. What do you think?
1. LisaRaye and Raven Symoné
Its funny to me that rapper Da Brat is actually the real life sister of actress LisaRaye McCoy. Though they share the same father, they don’t look alike to me at all. If you ask me, I think the lovely Raven Symoné resembles LisaRaye a lot more than her own sister! Do you see it? And speaking of Raven, have we found out yet why theres an accent over the “e” in her last name if the e is silent? Ive always wondered that.
Bonus/Honorary Mention:
Janet Jackson and Gabrielle Union
I may get some flack for this one, but I’m gonna go for it anyway. I’ve always thought Gabrielle Union favored Janet Jackson. I dont think they look exactly alike, but something in Gabrielle’s face reminds me of Janet. Maybe its the cheeks. Do you see it?
Samuel L. Jackson and Marc John Jefferies
Now of course these two couldn’t be separated at birth due to the age difference. However, somebody might wanna get Maury on this post because Samuel L. Jackson looks like he could be the winner in a game of “who’s your daddy.” (or Grandiddyyyyyyyyy?) If casting directors ever need to cast a role for the son or a child version of Samuel L. Jackson, they need not look any further than Marc John Jefferies.
